Family activities to do this summer in New Brunswick

New Brunswick is a maritime province rich in natural wonders: From the breathtaking vistas in our national parks to the endless beaches along our coastline, we’re spoiled! After two years under the thumb of COVID-19, everyone wants to make the most of summer. Here are a few family activities you can do on vacation or on your days off that will create memories to last a lifetime!

(Nearly) deserted beaches and islands

Are you or your kids not a fan of the chilly swims typical of Atlantic waters? Head for the famous beaches in Cap Pelé or Parlee Beach, near Shediac, home to Canada’s warmest salt water. Enjoy swimming, sandcastles, seafood feasts and an atmosphere worthy of any American seaside resort. If you want to stay for a few days, a nearby campground provides welcoming and comfortable accommodation, and several cottage complexes are not far away. Book now! Are you more the ATV type? Plan a getaway up the Acadian coast with Caraquet as your final destination, where you can visit the historic village. Plan to stop at the Shippagan Aquarium. Your kids will love the blue lobster collection. They can even touch them! For mountain biking enthusiasts, speeding down the Madawaska Trails will create exciting family memories.

Fishing: An activity for all ages

Fishing is definitely a must in New Brunswick! From salmon fishing on the Restigouche or Miramichi rivers to jigging mackerel offshore or even heading out with lobster fishers, unforgettable experiences await kids and grown-ups alike. Aboard the fishing boat, your kids can breathe the fresh sea air while learning fishing trade fundamentals. Who knows, maybe they’ll even see a whale or two breach the surface!
