In 2003, after realizing there was something lacking from the local music scene, members of the FJFNB came up with the idea of a competition to discover new francophone musical talent. They felt it was important for young New Brunswick francophones to show they could make contemporary music in French by drawing on a mix of tradition and innovation. The first edition of Accros de la chanson was held in 2005. Within 10 years it had grown into a must-attend event in the province–and an incredible source of new musical talent!
UNI’s role
Accros de la chanson is a training ground that encourages young people to develop their cultural identity and grow musically in French. The project also enables New Brunwick’s Francophone community to see just how much local talent there is.
UNI is proud to be a long-standing contributor to this ongoing development
