Le Pays de la Sagouine is a theatrical village on a small island in the middle of Bouctouche Bay. The facility opened in 1992 and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2022. First and foremost, Le Pays de la Sagouine is a meeting place where the imagination of a great Acadian author, Antonine Maillet, brings to life a multitude of characters, each more engaging than the last. As one of the largest Acadian performing arts employers, Le Pays de la Sagouine serves as an ambassador for Acadia. It’s a place where visitors from all over the world come to experience local culture and joie de vivre, and where Acadians celebrate that same joie de vivre as they identify with the characters on stage. With the character of La Sagouine, it represents the Acadian people’s ultimate pride and source of inspiration.
