A new cooperative vocation for a former UNI business location

UNI Financial Cooperation is pleased to announce that the building which housed its former business location in Inkerman will be handed over to the community to become a community health care cooperative. A group made up mostly of Inkerman residents has been working on this project for some time and plans to launch a fundraising campaign shortly. UNI is proud to collaborate on the project through the transfer of the structure valued at $200,000.

A promising project for the well-being of Inkerman and the surrounding area
Residents of the Inkerman Parish community and the surrounding area have mobilized in a determined way to take charge of this promising initiative. UNI is pleased to see that the building will be used for a cooperative project. It will provide assistance to the project's leaders by providing the organizing committee with resources to support them in the campaign's communications-related activities.

"Projects such as Inkerman's are totally in line with our community focus, where we want to be a lever for the vitality and prosperity of the communities we serve. I’m thrilled to see the revitalization of our infrastructure to serve the current needs of this community. I'm always impressed and inspired by the commitment of citizens to carry out meaningful initiatives," said Robert Moreau, Chief Executive Officer.

A new cooperative with a grand vision
The Inkerman Community Health Hub Cooperative Committee wanted to take the lead and be part of the solution to the health needs not only of their aging population, but also of the young families in the surrounding area. This cooperative has a grand vision: to offer comprehensive, quality, accessible and professional health care services that meet the needs of people in the community. Promotion, prevention and awareness of healthy lifestyle habits are key factors in maintaining a healthy population. Managed by and for the people of the community, this health services hub will be a positive force for the community's well-being.

"We’ve been working actively on the Inkerman Community Health Hub Cooperative project for several months. The members of the committee are unanimous that this community rallying project links directly to UNI's cooperative values, and we’re very pleased to be working with their team. This health hub responds to an essential need of residents. We’ll launch our fundraising campaign soon," said Brigitte Mazerolle Arseneau, Chair of the Inkerman Community Health Hub Cooperative Committee and Michel Haché, Chair of the fundraising campaign.
