Camille H. Thériault announces that he will be leaving UNI

After twelve years and three terms at the helm of the Caisses populaires acadiennes, Camille H. Thériault announced yesterday his intent to leave his position as Chief Executive Officer of UNI Financial Cooperation on December 31, 2016. It is with great emotion that he informed the Board of Directors and employees of his decision.

He insisted on thanking the Board of Directors and the whole UNI team for having trusted him for the past twelve years. “Without your support, it would have been impossible to make this great collective merger project a reality. It resulted in the creation of UNI Financial Cooperation, a new milestone in the Caisses populaires acadiennes’ long history. I am happy and sad at the same time to leave a dream job which gave me the opportunity to meet and interact with great people. It was a privilege to be a part of this great movement and I am extremely grateful.”

UNI Financial Cooperation’s Board of Directors is now responsible for choosing a new Chief Executive Officer. The job will be posted in the media on Saturday, September 24 and applications will be received until October 14, 2016. UNI Financial Cooperation’s new Chief Executive Officer will take on his new duties on January 1, 2017.

“It’s not easy to replace someone like Camille H. Thériault who is leaving after having brilliantly led the business with such amazing financial results, especially at a difficult time like the one we have been going through since 2008. By making sure the merger project became a reality, the business was able to secure a place among the country’s 10 most important Credit Unions and caisses populaires. We can only thank him for what he did and extend our best wishes. It is now our responsibility to find someone who will be able to fulfill our institution’s needs”, said Pierre-Marcel Desjardins, President of UNI’s Board of Director.

In the 80 years since the institution was founded, five people have led the institution: Martin J. Légère, Richard Savoie, Raymond Gionet, Gilles Lepage and Camille H. Thériault. The year 2017 will start with a 6th leader who will act as Chief Executive Officer of the financial cooperative.
