Members have voted in favour of the new Caisse populaire le Lien des deux Rivières

Following their respective extraordinary general meetings, the members of Caisse populaire le lien d’or, Caisse populaire de Tracadie and Caisse populaire de Sheila have voted in favour of the merger project that was presented to them.

These three caisses will then become a single entity bearing the name Caisse populaire le Lien des deux Rivières. The new caisse will be officially formed on January 1, 2012, following the approval of the project by the Superintendent of the caisses populaires.

By joining the forces of these three caisses, the new Caisse populaire le Lien des deux Rivières will manage a business volume of over $365 million and will serve more than 15,000 members. The 74 employees of the new caisse will provide service to their members through the following six business locations: Pont-Landry, Saint-Isidore, Sainte-Rose, Saint-Sauveur, Sheila and Tracadie.

This project will provide access to an even more specialized and structured consulting expertise, as well as greater possibilities for returns to individuals and businesses alike, while helping to ensure the survival of a solid and profitable caisse for years to come.

The elected officers of these three caisses proudly welcomed the decision of their members. Seven of them will sit on the new board of directors starting January 1, 2012. The name of the General Manager of this new entity will be announced in the coming weeks.

Following this merger, the Mouvement des caisses populaires acadiennes will have 16 caisses as of January 1, 2012, because another merger project was approved by members last April. Another merger project will be presented next Monday in the Moncton area. In fact, the members of Caisse populaire Beauséjour and Caisse populaire Notre-Dame de Grâce will also be voting on a merger project.
