The Prix littéraire Antonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie | 2025 Laureates Announced!
Haut-Shippagan, November 22, 2025 – The curtain has fallen on the 27th edition of the Prix littéraire Antonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie during an intimate ceremony held at Cielo Glamping Maritime in Haut-Shippagan. Two female authors stood out this year: Johanne Parent, who won the Prix Annuel, while Myriam Thomas distinguished herself in the Volet Jeunesse Richelieu.
The Prix Annuel celebrates each year a Francophone literary work published by a publishing house in the following genres: novel, poetry, short story, tale, narrative, theater, and literary essay.
The 2025 finalists were:
- Johanne Parent, Bathurst, for her play
Ornithorynques, published by Éditions Perce-Neige;
- Annette Boudreau, Grand-Barachois, for her essay on linguistic insecurity
Parler comme du monde, published by Prise de parole;
- Marc-André Charron, Moncton, for his play
Hippocampe, published by Prise de parole.
The jury praised Johanne Parent’s work for bringing a fresh breath to Acadian literature and its ability to shed light on the often-invisible realities of Acadian communities in northern New Brunswick. Ornithorynques offers writing that is both incisive and deeply humane, carried by rare sensitivity.
In the Prix Volet Jeunesse Richelieu, Myriam Thomas stood out for the strength of her narrative construction and the boldness of her themes. The jury highlighted her mastery of orality in the text, as well as the promising potential of this young author, whose writing deserves close attention.
The finalists were selected by an independent jury, under the supervision of the New Brunswick Arts Board, among 19 submissions received for the 2025 edition.

The literary contest is officially open for 2026!
Authors have until December 31, 2025, to submit their work in one of the two categories. Full details are available at prixlitteraire.uni.ca.
