The Prix littéraire Antonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie literary award announces 2023 finalists

Caraquet, September 18, 2023 - The Prix littéraire Antonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie announces the 2023 finalists in its various categories. The winners will be announced at the 24th awards ceremony, to be held on Saturday, October 21, during the Salon du livre de Dieppe.

Award categories

The Prix Annuel recognizes a work written in French and published by a publishing house, in the following categories: poetry, short story, narrative, drama and essay. The finalists are:

  • Rose Després (Grande-Digue) for her poetry collection Séjour à Belle-Côte, published by Prise de Parole;
  • Caroline Bélisle (Moncton) for her play Les Remugles ou La danse nuptiale est une langue morte, published by Éditions Perce-Neige; and
  • Daniel H. Dugas (Moncton) for his poetry collection Émoji, etc., published by Éditions Basic Bruegel Edition.

The Prix Volet Jeunesse Richelieu annually recognizes the talent of a young francophone author between the ages of 15 and 25, in the following categories: poetry, short story, narrative, drama and essay. The finalist is:

  • Neila Selouani (Shippagan) for her poetry collection Folies qui somnolent.

Every five years, the Prix Quinquennal recognizes an Acadian francophone author for his or her body of work, in all literary categories. The finalists are:

  • Cindy Roy of Dieppe
  • Marie-France Comeau of Dalhousie
  • Martine L. Jacquot of Grafton, Nova Scotia

The finalists were selected by the Prix littéraire Antonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie’s independent jury. Made up of members of the French language Acadian literary community, the jury made its selection among 33 literary works submitted for the 2023 edition of the renowned literary competition.

 

About the Prix littéraire Antonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie literary award 

Founded in 1998 as part of Acadie Vie’s 50th anniversary of the foundation, the Prix littéraire Antonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie literary award recognizes Acadians who, through the quality of their literary work, contribute to the exposure and promotion of Acadia around the world. 

Since 1998, $137,000 has been granted in scholarships to 47 Acadian authors, recognized for the excellence of their work, to help them pursue their passion for literary creation.
