UNI Financial Cooperation acquires $150-million investment portfolio

Caraquet, July 27, 2020 – UNI Financial Cooperation CEO Robert Moreau is proud to announce the acquisition of a $150-million investment portfolio from the firms of Haché Dumaresq Gaudet Financial Services and Léger Gaudet Stewart Financial Services. This acquisition is a major success for UNI, which is now better positioned than ever to support its client members in the management of their savings and investments. With this deal, UNI's wealth management assets under management now total $800 million.

As a result, the employees of these firms are joining UNI's Wealth Management team. Always on the lookout for business opportunities that can benefit its client members, UNI finalized this important acquisition with a determined commitment to position itself as a leader in wealth management in New Brunswick.

"This acquisition is aligned with our strategic plan for growth and investment in wealth management," said Robert Moreau, CEO. "UNI continues to modernize by seizing opportunities in this fast-growing market. The conditions are in place to offer tailor-made expertise and unparalleled support to our client-members.
I welcome René Gaudet and his team, as well as his clients."

Simplify finances with experienced and personal service

The arrival of René Gaudet and his colleagues at UNI adds to the expertise of an already strong wealth management team, which now includes 13 financial planners and 30 wealth management advisors across UNI's service area.

As a longtime partner of Aviso Wealth Inc., and its subsidiary Credential Asset Management Inc., UNI offers expertise and an optimal range of Canada's leading investment products, including a broad family of socially responsible funds. With 25 years of experience, Aviso Wealth is partnered with 300 credit unions and financial cooperatives and has 500,000 clients across the country and over $70 billion in assets under management and administration.

For those coming onboard, the transition to UNI is a natural one. "UNI is a home-grown institution, created by local people who understand the reality of our market and the needs of our customers," said René Gaudet, principal partner of the two firms involved in this acquisition. "I appreciate its human approach and its closeness to people. These are values that I have always adhered to throughout my career, and that are also shared by my colleagues. We are very pleased to continue in this vein within the larger UNI family."

A smooth transition and continued trust

UNI values business relationships but, more importantly, human relationships. Clients holding these investments will be able to continue to deal with their current financial planner at the same offices in Bathurst and Moncton.
