Security and Fraud
Protecting your debit card and PINYou must choose a 4-digit PIN for your debit card. The debit card number and PIN must remain secret, confidential and personal.
It should be noted that when your PIN is used with your debit card, it proves that you have authorized the transaction or other activity, and that you are responsible for it.
You are responsible for the use and security of your debit card and PIN.
The 3D Secure process is a security authentication that uses a one-time password sent by text message or e-mail, depending on the user's preference, when making an online purchase with a debit card.
- Notify UNI immediately if you realize that your debit card or mobile device used in connection with the mobile payment service has been lost or stolen, or that your PIN has been compromised, made available to another person, or is known to another person.
- Promptly report to UNI any issues related to a debit card transaction or any unauthorized debit card transaction, other than an issue related to goods or services provided by merchants, so that UNI can investigate and respond to the issue in a timely manner. You will provide UNI with any additional information, statements or affidavits and assist UNI in any investigation related to a lost, stolen or misused debit card, ID, access code or PIN.
- Verify that all debit card transactions have been made by regularly reviewing your activity and account statements.

UNI may revoke, restrict, limit, suspend or terminate your use of the debit card or may, at any time and without prior notice (except as required by law), terminate this agreement, either temporarily or permanently, along with your right to use the debit card if, among other causes, any part of this agreement is contravened or if UNI is required to do so by law or suspects that your debit card is being used by someone other than you or been, or may be, used to commit fraud. Cardholder rights and obligations
As a debit card holder, you have certain rights and obligations. Here are some examples:

- Once you have notified UNI that your debit card or mobile device used for mobile payment has been lost or stolen or that your PIN or access code is known to another person, you are not responsible for any subsequent transactions on your debit card or mobile payment service.
- You are not responsible for any loss resulting from the unauthorized use of your debit card or device if you have been the victim of coercion, deceit, fraud, violence, intimidation or theft provided that you notify UNI of the loss, theft or misuse of the debit card or disclosure of your PIN or access code as soon as you are aware of it and cooperate fully with any subsequent investigation.
Limits at time of activation
WARNING: please check the limits on your debit card as the limits below may not apply.
Default limits will be set on your debit card, with the lowest limit being applied. Transactions above a total of $3,000 (CAD equivalent) per day will not be authorized.

**$400 is a cumulative limit which can be spread over several days. Once the limit is reached, the cardholder must enter their PIN to reset it. This is for the cardholder's protection if their debit card is stolen.
The limits are lower for clients under the age of 16.
