The one-time verification code, also known as the “one-time password”, is a security feature that adds an extra layer of protection for your accounts. It minimizes the risk of fraudulent login attempts, guaranteeing a higher level of security.
Here is the list of transactions or updates for which the user will receive a one-time verification code:
Personal and Businesses
Add a biller
Add a payee
Add an Interac contact
Modify an Interac contact

Make a one-time transaction to an unregistered biller

Users must enter the verification code received by e-mail and text message to finalize their transaction or update in My Profile.
This code consists of an automatically generated string of characters or numbers:
- 6-digit number
- valid for a single transaction or update
- sent to contact details - cell phone number and registered e-mail address
- valid for 5 minutes
- generated each time, a transaction or update is carried out according to the list identified above.

This new feature is an ally in the fight against fraudsters, and enhances My Profile security to better protect your data against fraud and identity theft.
The one-time verification code feature is mandatory and cannot be deactivated.
When a transaction or update is made according to the table above, a one-time verification code is sent by text message and to the e-mail address registered in My Profile. This code must be entered before the transaction or update can be completed.
